My Future Self

In this day & age it's so easy to get caught up in the little things, that before we realise it, months have passed & we can't quite recall what we've done with them. We no longer have time to sit & reflect, to meditate, to find a calm centre of ourselves & just do a personal check up. We need to ask ourselves, "How are you?", "Who are you?" & "Who do you want to be?"

Perhaps it's just a note in your wallet. Or a quote written up on your fridge. Perhaps it's on your pin up board at work. It's the little reminder to stop, to think, to remember the answer to that last question.

For me, it is this. It embraces everything about the person I want to become & the image it creates is just amazing.



The only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn, like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue centre light pop and everybody goes "Awww!".

The whole thing is one long breathless sentence. So caught up in the image, the persona, the brightness of the person they're describing that they've forgotten to breathe. It's pure perfection & something I can only aspire to.

I plan on putting this somewhere special as a reminder of who I am meant to be. Do you have any quotes that you live by? Where do you keep them?

When I started reading that passage I thought 'this reminds me of On the Road'..go figure, Jack Kerouac really had something with the characters of Sal and Dean. I am assuming you have read On the Road? If not, you definitely should! It shows the beauty of living for the love of life and the moment, but also the negative side of it. It's a fantastic, breathless tale.
