Jeanima

As Christmas rolls around yet again, we begin to see ads everywhere reminding us that there are people less fortunate than ourselves. I remember a conversation I had recently with someone, I forget who, we discussed the things that society places value in. $30 for a bottle of wine, $60 for a new top, $200 for a new pair of shoes, $50 to go see a movie. None of these are overly expensive items, but when you do the comparison as to how much that money would buy someone in a third world country, you might start to feel a little guilty.

We all know how little it costs to support someone else, or how little it costs to donate the coins in your wallet to a worthy cause, but for some reason we (myself included) tend to struggle to actually part with our "hard earned" money.

My gorgeous friend Holly, who you should all know & follow by now, has come up with the greatest idea. Raising money through her contacts online to support a little girl in Haiti. She is totally adorable.

Month by month, the few dollars you can spare would go towards a great cause and you can see how much is needed to make the month's payment before you donate. If you don't already, I'd advise signing up to a PayPal account which costs nothing and is the easiest site to make secure payments through.

Sometimes, it's not about spending money on yourself, or the ones you love. It's about spending money on someone you may never meet, just because you can.

More details are on Holly's post. Please think about this and contribute!

Ah, yes. What a lovely idea!

I donate some money every month to a small community in Africa with my family

Not only does it make me feel good, but it also lets me know that if we all pitch in together we can actually change the way things are in our world.
