So today, or this evening (for me), I thought I would show you my dinner!! Matt, someone I follow on Twitter, posted a review & a recipe of Kefta Mkaouara (don't ask me how to pronounce it, cause I have NO idea - in English, it's Meatball Tagine). Uninspired by the option of "shepherd's pie" for dinner, I thought this was a great alternative to use up the mince we had.
We made up a HUGE batch of meatballs... before putting them in the pan with the passata.
It's full of cumin, paprika and cinnamon... ooh, and honey!
We don't have a tagine so we sufficed with a baking tray & a pot to keep all the juices in.
It turned out saucy as all heck but we mopped it up with some really good Italian bread.... and we served it with some greens, just because we can. It was Delicious. Capital D is totally necessary!
For some reason my creative & culinary juices were flowing tonight so I decided we'd make dessert too. A deconstructed apple pie (type thing). We're all on diets so small circles of puff pastry, brown sugar & cinnamon stewed apple & a ricotta cream. The ricotta cream was so yum, I may or may not have done a little jig when I tested it. (Equal parts ricotta & cream cheese, enough icing sugar to make it as sweet as you like, vanilla essence (if you like) & we added sherry, just for some kick).
Et voila`!
So now, I'm TOTALLY stuff from dinner & totally exhausted from the week so I'm going to sign off & hope you have a BRILLIANT weekend. We are expecting sunshine & I plan to make the most of it!

That deconstructed pie sounds marvulous. The sugary-spicy fresh apple slices are my favorite part of apple pie, I could totally do without the crust.
YUMMMM
You pronounce that as kefta (or kofta in Egyptian) mkawara lol
which means "rounded" meatballs, because traditionally, kefta/kofta comes in fingers!
/drools.
Ohhhhhhhh last weekend the weather in Perth was lovely, too!
We took my cousins to see the ducks in the park every morning, hahaha.
I hope YOU have a BRILLIANT weekend :)

Hey Liv,
Glad you enjoyed the recipe :) And well done for knocking together a backyard tagine of such classiness.
I will admit I am slightly sad you skipped the eggs... because they are so so good... But that just leaves something to try for next time.
Great effort :)
