Something random I was thinking about today. And bare with me cause I may need to give you the whole picture, and I'd like your feedback.
After school let out, I decided to work full time. 12 years of school is more than enough for me. I worked for 6 months and by that stage, the job was getting to me, and I felt like I needed to get an education. That's just what's done right? After 6 months of study, I was done, I had a cert 3 from Tafe, and I really wasn't that keen on the class.
After that, I managed to find a full time job, and have been here ever since.
I was thinking about a friend I went to school with, she left school and studied. At the end of this year, she will have completed her nursing degree. So she'll be earning whatever and entry-level nurse gets. No doubt, I'll probably be on less...BUT (and it's a rather big 'but' too)
Since leaving school, I have completed a Certificate 3 (Events Management), a Cert 4 (Project Management -I did while working full time), I've gone to Italy, Paris, Sydney and Melbourne, bought my own car AND I've still got a savings account too.
Is this comparing apples with apples? Or are they incomparable? I've lived, since school let out, I've done what I wanted, I've got work experience that others my age may not have.
Now I understand that study isn't a priority for me, and that it IS for others, but sometimes I think, maybe I should have studied (even though I STILL don't know what I'd study if I went to uni).
What about you? Did you travel? Did you study? Are you happy with your decision?
I'm happy with mine. :)
Also, this room is going on my wishlist.

Kudos to Casapinka for the picture...it was love at first site. And the Smeg frisge she has on her page is also on my wishlist.
Have an absolutely fabulous weekend!

I studied for almost 6 years and earned two degrees. Sometimes though I wonder what would have been if I had chosen to study something more creative...? In any event I really enjoy my job so all is good. Keep in mind though that I am the studying type... I plan on starting my Masters in the next few years. It's not for everybody, but I think the pay-off is worth the effort (depending on what you choose to study of course). You need to do what makes you happy and what you enjoy - you can't compare things like this.
that room is simply gorgeous.
ahh, nice entry, I have thought about how this impacted my life. I have done a little traveling and a little studying since high school. I am 32, and for the third or fourth time I am going back to school. I think for me, it's all about finding the route that will keep you happiest while youre on your way to where you want to go. school sometimes, travel sometimes, whatever. Society tends to make you feel like you have to do things in a particular order, but really, you dont. You just have to dance along to the music the whole way.

Thinking about what im doing after highschool makes my head spin. And i think about it alot. Seems like everyone else knows exactly their plan for what their going do do, be, go. And me, i have no clue whats ahead of me. I hope to work in a creative environment, explore the world, and who knows maybe become a rockstar and own a pet zebra!
