It's been decided.Well, kind of.
I'm looking at putting a portfolio together to get into a course at university. I'd do it part time and off campus where possible, so it doesn't interfere with my work.
The course isn't related to my current job (at all), but there are elements that I'm learning (at work), which are transferable and the mix of the two, will hopefully give me a good basis to get work.
Especially when I start travelling.
I find the idea of study rather daunting.
The Questions
Will I like the course?
Will I have time for study, work, friends, family, me?
Will I pass?
Will I even get in?
How do I do a portfolio?
What about the fact that I can't draw?
Does the fact I like arranging and rearranging my room mean I want to be a designer?
Do I want to do architecture or interiors?
The Exciting Things
I get to meet a load of new people.
I have something to occupy my time.
I get to release my creative bug.
I will be challenged.
I will learn more than I thought I could.
I will do well.
I will enjoy the challenge.
I want to design an apartment.
I want to design/redecorate/update a restaurant.
I want to design a really funky clothes/retail store.
I want to be brilliant at this!
The Scary Stuff
I might not like it.
I might not be good at it.
I will have to start at the bottom. Again
I may not have time.
It will be expensive.
I have holiday's planned next year.
Will I need to buy the software?
Will I need to get a new PC?
(We have mac's at home...they really are better)
These are all the thoughts going through my poor little head at this particular time.
Design has always been something I've loved. My only qualm is that I've never done any creative courses, I didn't do art in TEE, I can't draw, so if I like design so much, why haven't I done anything that is even remotely related?
Enjoy your weekend people. I'll have a photo post coming up soon.
