Reminder

I was unfortunate enough to receive an email from a stranger today. He wrote to tell me his girlfriend had passed away. He was emailing all her contacts to let them know. The only reason I was on that list was because I'd recently discovered her blog. Recent as in the start of September. She was a local, Perth girl. She was about my age, and her passing was not expected.

I didn't really know her & I won't profess to be a close friend or to have known her better than I did. All I do know is that her online self was full of joy and excitement. Her blog was a happy one. The energy in the few emails we exchanged was so positive it was infectious.

That email brought me to tears. She was my age.

It was a reminder that we should be living good lives. We should be telling the people closest to us how we feel. We should be making the most of opportunities and not holding on to things long passed. We can't do something completely outrageous every day but we can live a life we're proud of. Nothing is unfixable, but every moment will pass.

I need to remember that. I need to act upon that. We might not be here tomorrow.

I actually cried when I read this.
It hits home, and it seems so shocking/sudden, and I hopehopehope that she got to say goodbye, and all my love to her family and friends.

That is so sad. My condolences to anyone who knew her - in the blogging world, or real life. Perth is such a small community in particular. Anyone from here could have known her.
I think that things like this remind us to think about what is important and realise just how we touch each other's lives without even knowing it.

what a reminder. thank you for posting this. we so often forget what life is really about, and a lot of the time, it unfortunately takes something like a death to wake us up again.
i'm sorry for the loss. xoxoxo
