Well, yes, I stuck to my guns. I can handle it. I didn't react and I was proactive in making me feel good about where I'm going.
Why do we allow other people to affect how we're going to live? Why is it that people's perception of us can turn out far more important than how we see or treat ourselves? How much should other people's views of us affect us? Should they affect us at all?
Well, they shouldn't really. There is the 'socially acceptable' behaviour which we all try to employ but there are also the people in our lives that shape who we are. The people who are most prominent tend to have the biggest effect, (parents, friends we grow up with, teachers, relatives) sometimes though, there are people who walk in, and out, that leave footprints. (I'm sure you've read the poem) It comes across as though they are talking about a friend, but who are we kidding? Would a real friend seriously walk out?
The people that leave the footprints are the ones that affected us, that made us realise we can't keep doing what we're doing. So we change, we become stronger, we give ourselves a mental note not to repeat that behaviour.
Why do we allow other people to affect how we're going to live?
We choose to.
