The technology available these days is just amazing. We can reach just about anyone at any time in any number of ways. Facebook, Twitter, Email, Blackberrys, Mobile Internet, mobile phones, wireless... If they're not on one, they're on another.
This year is a year of 21st's for my friends & I. The invite was hand delivered, but the event was created on Facebook as well. Don't get me wrong, I think the FB event is a great way to remind people, as it appears on your home page when it gets close to the date. But I still like the feeling you get when you receive snail mail.

If there's no return address, you wonder who it's from. You try to guess the handwriting, try thinking if there's any event coming up that would warrant a letter. Then you tear it open to discover who's thought of you and why.
I know where my friends live, I can drive to their houses no worries. The problem is, do I know their address? Nope. Did I write it down from the last time I sent them something? Nope. Solution? Send them a text, or a group message on Facebook... technology again. Why? Because it's the easiest way to contact a large group of people in one foul swoop & it doesn't cost anything.

These days, there's not a lot of time that I'm not in front of a screen of some sort. To make sure I stay in touch with the "real world" I find excuses to send something via snail mail.
So with my impending

What would you send your friends just because?

Cute! I've always loved creating my own business/name cards. This have given me the inspiration to make some new ones :). I would blow kisses into an envelope and hope that my friends caught them when they opened it ;).
I still send hand-written thank-you cards to people, it's so much more personal than just emailing them. I also think there's so much more scope to be creative with letters than emails.
It's my best friends 21st birthday on Saturday, so I'm going to send her a "Clare package" filled with things she likes :)
this is a great idea! I sent some Happy New Year cards this year. I think I'm gonna start doing the same for birthdays.
I think just because notes are great, but all my friends, beside one, live in my town so it doesn't really have a point.
thanks a lot for your comment !
it's so exciting to get some infomartion about australia from you.I'd really love to go to australia, but I've got to see whether that's possible, because of my studies.
but I still got 2 years of school,so there's enough time to think about it !
thanks a lot for reading my blog,i really appreciate it !
best regards
I never really right people letters, but I'm a big fan of sending post cards whenever I get a chance. The other night my friend had a hotel room in town and I went to see him and stole all the free post cards in the drawers
These labels are so cute! Good luck with the move!

Wow, I haven't visited your blog in quite a while! Im likin' the new template, of the old-ish (?). Anyways, the idea of "Snail Mail" sounds oddly fun and I think I will send some of my pals a letter. =)
I used to send an excess of letters and post cards, but it got expensive...
This post reminds me I really have to send a thank you note to my technophobe grandpa for giving me money for Christmas....
Yum technology! Where would we be without blogging, twitter, and facebook! I wouldnt know you, and then I just might cry cos I'd have a big ol' empty hole in my heart where a Liv should go! I love sending people pressies, postcards, letters. Mail is so fun to get :)
