Even still, can you imagine the packing, unpacking and endless carting around of suitcases? The idea of spending a large chunk of our holiday on trains/buses/flights didn't really appeal to any of us. This would explain why we cut it right down. Now there are only a few places we stay in for a decent period of time. When we get to Italy we'll have base cities and do day trips to other towns/cities.
Now Mother Dearest and Padre, bought both my BLB and I a suitcase (each) for the trip. They're fantastic, they have detachable backpacks on the front as well as straps on the main suitcase so we don't have to pick them up, we can just wear them on our backs. Oh, but of course they have wheels too.

The funny thing is, I did a trial run with this suitcase when I went down south for my cousin's wedding. That trip was for four days and the suitcase was no where near big enough. Understandably, I did take all my hair products, hair drier, straightener, make up, various shoes, all the 'just-in-case' things.
The suitcase holds 73 litres and I'm not going to fit very much at all in that amount of space.
The main problem I have is wardrobe. Now, I don't have a huge one to start with, but it still gets pretty boring pretty quickly. I'm going to have to plan outfits even before I leave so I don't get frustrated with the lack of variety. The only thing saving my sartorial is sanity is that MD and I are roughly the same size so we can share. Thank God she's got style!
Anyway! After playing on Polyvore for what seems like hours I've come up with a simple packing list that will give me some options when it comes to outfits. I think it's definitely going to be a case of packing basics, and taking coloured accessories to make the outfits that little bit different.
I have pretty much all of these things. It's never a good idea for me to go nuts on Polyvore looking at all the things I'd like to take, because then I'll end up spending the money I'm supposed to be saving. In any case, if I get over there and realise I need something else, I'd much rather buy it there. That way, when I get home and people ask "Oh, that's nice, where'd you get that?" I can say, "Paris" or "London" or "Rome", just like they seem to when I ask.

sounds like you've thought it all out! make sure to pack efficiently so you can fit more...roll your clothes instead of folding them, pack socks inside your shoes, use travel size toiletry bottles, plan on wearing your bulkiest pair of shoes there and back and carry your biggest coat on the plane with you to free up valuable suitcase space. and don't forget that anything you buy there you will have to PACK to bring back with you. you definitely have the style efficiency side down, though! you are going to look so adorable traipsing about Europe.
Oh I love those outfits!! I hope you have a wonderful time in Europe!! If I ever go to London I want to go to Hyde park and see the Peter pan statue.
xoxo
When I went to Europe I packed pretty light, I knew I was going to be needing room for all the presents I bought my family. But it still wasn't enough! So half way through my trip I sent a big parcel home - gifts, souvenirs, tickets, papers & guidebooks that I didn't need anymore. And of course, you need to wrap them careful for breakage so I used some of my clothes that I was absolutely sick of! Can be a little pricey but I ended up with heaps of room in my bag & also needed to get some new clothes. Win for everyone!
Take things that are easy to wash/tumble dry. You don't want to be sitting in a laundromat half the day or to ruin one of your favourite pieces because you couldn't find a drycleaner.
Shampoo, etc, you can buy over there, they add heaps of weight to your bags & you don't want to have to leave something behind at the airport coz your bags are over!
The best advice I can give you is to take a power board. Might sound retarded, but between the 2 of us we had cameras, phones, mp3 players, etc, to charge each night & there's usually only 1 or 2 wall plugs. This way they were all done & you didn't have to worry about changing them over.
sooo jealous! i love that last part in your post. pretty soon you'll be a member of that jet-setter club i've always wanted to join, haha.
Wow that sounds like an amazing trip!!!!!
And your packing looks great ....EXCEPT I'm not seeing the big rain jacket ....esp if you're going to London ....always be prepare for cold rain in Europe ....esp London ....and VERY esp Ireland.
Oh i totallly understand. I wrote a list of everything we need to take on our trip.. like a seriously DETAILED LIST.. down to clothes pegs and sewing needles haha and it was soo big. no way im going to get it all under 20kg.
i love polyvore, it makes me so depressed though haha -- "oooh and il pack these chloe shoes.. wait, i mean kmart" haha
Oh you are so lucky!
I have been to Germany and France, but want to go back and travel all around Europe. I think if/when I get married that would be my honeymoon :)
I hope you keep us posted when you are in Europe.
wow what perfecto thoughts :)
Forgot to mention that I absolutely LOVE the coral accent color you're using.
I MUST learn from you...I'm not a very light traveller! I'm sure you'll have a fabulous time & looking stylish at the same time...

i agree, you have to plan your outfits.
My sister and i also use the same size, isn't that amazing?! Best thing for traveling occasions.
I better start planning my outfits, i am leaving to FL this thursday
Oh, I always have trouble packing, er, overpacking. I tend to throw in items for the 'just in case' reason, such as more sweaters or jackets than I really need. Suppose the key is to bring versatile pieces that you can style in multiple ways. Love everything you picked out though.. good luck with packing!
xo, Becs
Have so much fun!!! Wish I could tag along! Make sure to take lots of pictures, my dear.
Wow.. I'd love to visit Europe someday! Lucky you!
