Broke & Bored : Option 7

Plan your next big holiday

My own pic from 2005

1. Get on the internet.

2. Go nuts!

3. Research the places you want to visit.
Flight prices vary by airline, or cruise line, and also by time of year. Keep in mind, Summer is the most expensive to time to fly and stay in any tourist destination.

4. Ask yourself the following questions?
Do you want to be a local, or do the sight seeing stuff?
Do you want to take it slow, or cram it all in?
Do you want to stay in hotels, hostels or B&Bs?
Do you have family there?
You may find they know where to go, and where to stay (if not with them). This can save some time as you have less to organise.

GET REVIEWS!
Use TripAdvisor to get reviews of any accommodation places. It's worth it. 17 euro a night is cheap, but you don't want to find out when you get there that it's a half hour out of the city and you have to share your bed with bugs!

If you're a little bit stumped as to where to start, go to VirtualTourist. All the information is given for tourists, by tourists. It has tips on where to stay, what to see, places to eat, local customs, nightlife, tourist traps, transportation, even packing lists!

It doesn't cost anything to plan where you want to go on your next holiday.
You can create your own itinerary, plan days, plan budgets, the whole lot. You don't have to actually GO on the holiday, but it might inspire you to save a few extra dollars a week, and treat yourself. Whether it be across to Rottnest, over to Melbourne, up to Singapore, round to Europe, or right the way through to the US.

It might get you encouraged, the money you're saving is going to be worth it, or it could ignite that little fire that tells you, you need to start saving like crazy if you want to make this holiday a reality!

Bizarre, now that I think about it... given the circumstances, when I went to Aus, I did zero research before I went.
