I woke up to find my tiny baby girl sleeping, all wrapped up in my arms. She's quietly nestled into the folds of my body. She's sleeping soundly. She has the most peaceful face, and I can just see that whisper of hair on her head.
She's no more than 2 days old. I remove my arm from underneath her and unwrap the blanket that's been holding her so tight. She's tiny. I don't know how but she's managed to consume my whole world and I hardly know her.
Her pyjamas are so small. Size 0000, pale pink. The little jumper has ridden up her gorgeous mound of a belly. The skin on her stomach is dry, a drop of moisturiser should fix it. I rub it between my hands to warm it up, but she still feels the cold. There's a little whimper, eyes still closed, but it's not much more than that. She's such a good girl.
She squirms to get comfortable again and I try to wrap her up. I've not done this before and first time around I fail miserably. I thought this was supposed to come naturally. It doesn't. The second attempt is a bit of a botch job, but she's all cosied up, I'm tired, and I don't want to try again.
I look at her face, my gorgeous sleeping girl, in amongst the concentration of wrapping her up, I've missed the fact that she's been a little sick. Not a lot, she didn't eat much last night. She's still in my bed, and she looks so cosy. I don't want to move her. I've got to find a flannel to wipe her face. I pause for a second a just give her another cuddle. She's adorable. Even now, she still looks so sweet, my little angel.
I woke up this morning, looking into the folds of my body. Hoping to find my little girl, all wrapped up, and sleeping.
