It's All About Glamour Pt 1

I was struggling to figure come up with something to write for you these last couple of days. I've just been through one of those completely-necessary-but-totally-draining realisations and my brain is slightly fried.

Searching for inspiration, I opened up My Heart and realised what has been running through my subconcious.

Glamour

-noun. The quality of fascinating, alluring, or attracting,

esp. by a combination of charm and good looks.

Normal life can get SO unbelievably BORING sometimes. It's not always sweet things & lovely thoughts. We still have go to work or school, cook, clean, shave our legs, keep all our affairs in order, it all gets very tiring after a while.

There's no reason we can't try to make ourselves feel good during the not-so-glamourous times.

So how do you get instant glamour? How do you make yourself look pretty, when you really don't feel pretty? The key to this is, if you're in that bad a mood, you may not feel pretty, no matter what you do. What you're looking to do is fool everyone else.

Here's what I do when I wake up feeling less than glamourous.

Pearls

I have two sets, a short, two strand necklace and a longer one with three strands at the front. Neither were expensive, one was an opshop find, and the other a gift from a friend (also from an opshop). They're so readily available these days, you should be able to pick some up at your favourite clothing or accessories store. The best thing is, they instantly dress up what you're wearing. A white shirt & jeans? A Saturday outfit. Add a string of pearls? A Saturday night outfit!

Even something as simple as pearl earrings. I'm not sure about you, but when I see a girl with pearl earrings, she has that air of sophistication about her. That's when I think to myself "I must get my hands on a pair of pearl earrings", and promptly forget to do so.

Lipstick / Lip Gloss

I'm not so great at this one, but I'm learning. I have two lip tints, one pink, one nude, and a fire engine red lipstick. I find that just adding a touch of colour to your lips can instantly transform your look. Don't be afraid to layer the colours either. I rarely wear the red on it's own. I tend to use a tint over the top, just to tone it down a little. That thirty second application can make you all put together, even (and especially) when the rest of your make up is kept very simple.

Make sure you keep a nice, good lipgloss in your bag too. When your lipstick starts to wear off, (because we all know they don't really last 16 hours) a lipgloss with a subtle colour to it, will recreate that freshly applied lipstick look.

I figure you're probably tired of reading now, so I'll post some more tomorrow. In the mean time - what tricks do you have to make yourself feel better?

Painting my nails :D I actually have them cut really short, a habit after years of violin, so having them long freaks me out a little. But I like to paint them pretty colours.

I like this, I want part 2!
I put mascara on - that's basically it for my daily make-up, nut I know I have it, so I feel good.
