Let's Play Dress Ups!

: PROLOGUE :
Please excuse the awful quality of the photos
Moving on.

As you may or may not know, my family and I are heading to Europe at the end of this year. Do you know what excites me the most about the trip?

Packing the suitcase. I'm in a place where I can afford what I need, a little of what I want, I generally know what suits me and my mother & I can wear similar clothes. This means, instead of taking one suitcase, I kinda have two.

I've mentioned earlier the criteria of any clothes that are to be considered for packing. My other thought, was to buy a load of really thick tights (100+ denier) and wear them as pants. I understand Europe is freezing, but I could layer them. This means I don't have to take so many pairs of heavy, bulky jeans.

Last weekend I bought some luxurious grey (120dn) tights, and two pairs of black (80dn) tights... I took them home, and played dress ups!

Obviously I couldn't wear this on it's own, but stick a long sleeve grey shirt underneath, add a jacket & scarf, should be set!

This is my most favouritest jacket. It's a wool, cashmere blend & cost me a small fortune but was definitely worth it. It's yet to go out of fashion, it's flattering, and EVER so warm. I'm not sure whether I'd take it with me, as it's very bulky, but I could still wear it here.

You can't see the bottom half, but I was wearing a bandage skirt & black tights (like the picture below)

Ok, so this outfit definitely wouldn't go down well in Europe, I'd freeze! But I did spend my Monday in it. Bandage skirt, tights, plain white men's tee with the sleeves rolled up. Comfortable bliss.

I found the tee in my wardrobe, it belongs to Padre or my BLB, they won't be getting it back any time soon. I will let you in on a little secret though. A lot of the US bloggers use AA or Hanes men's tees as their basics, or for shredding, these can be rather hard to find in Australia. This tee would work perfectly, so I deciphered the worn off label and discovered that it's a Rivers tee. I think I'm gonna head there to get some more!

I forgot how fun dress ups were!

P.S. I would never wear them AS pants. Just under short dresses, shorts & skirts.

Fun fun fun! Such a good idea. I am looking for opaques whilst I am home (til tomorrow). Any suggestion for where I can find some?

You must be excited about your upcoming trip!?

Tights (and leggings) are NOT NOT NOT pants!!! Don't do it! Wear something, ANYTHING over the top.

Another favorite staple of mine: men's wifebeaters (those tank top undershirts). made by fruit of the loom or hanes and sold in three packs at department stores, Target/Wal-Mart/K-Mart, and even my local discount/consignment/dollar store. Also, all my men's tees are actually men's undershirts! White, black, or gray sold in three packs at the same places as the tanks, and for ridiculously cheap. A summer day in LA and all I need are is one of those, my trusty old denim mini, flip flops, and a pair of aviator sunglasses.
