It's All About Glamour Pt 3

Eep! Excuse my delay in getting this done, it's just awful of me I know. But back on the topic of looking glamourous when you just don't feel it. The next trick I use is painting my nails.

Nails

PAINT 'EM!

The effect is much like wearing rings. You become more conscious of your hands and you don't want to ruin your nailpolish. It just gives you a more refined manner. It sounds prissy cause it is. I used to be one of those people that could NEVER get all her nails perfect, at least one would have a mark or smudge.

The key is to do it after eating, while your favourite tv show is on. Paint one coat, let them dry for at least two ad breaks worth, then test them. You have no reason to get up, no reason to move your hands, just sit still & wait for them to dry. When the first layer is fully dry, then do the second coat, wait til the end of the show, they should be ok (if you start at the beginning). Voila`! Gorgeous, coloured, mark free nails.

Reflection

The one thing I've learned in the past year or so is that how you see yourself in the mirror makes a MASSIVE difference. I'm not talking about confidence (that's a whole other post), I'm talking about outfits. You know that inspiration board you have, the magazine cut outs, the collection of images in your flickr, tumblr or in my case, weheartit account, how many times do you look at that and think "There is no way I could get away with that".

Erase that thought, make it so your brain malfunctions when those words are put together like that. If you like an outfit idea, and you have the clothes to make it work, then go for it! You'll feel good for being creative, people will notice the change in style & usually comment. Play dress ups in the morning, be late, you'll realise what works for you, what doesn't, and find a good number of outfits you can wear on your next off day.

I do all of these things at various times (most days of the week). I hope they work for you as they do me.

Love

yes yes yes! Could not agree more, lovely. I find the darker the shade of polish, the more badass I feel hah. And I also agree that getting creative in the morning is super fun and a big confidence booster. Playing by the rules when it comes to fashion is such a yawn. Thanks for this series. I loved it! xo

I went through a phase of not trusting my mirror(more like how I see myself, really). I would instead, take pictures of my reflection and check that..silly, I know..
I don't even think I remember the last time I checked my reflection..seriously.

I am never patient enough to let my hands dry when I paint them myself. I love the look of painted nails but I can rarely keep them looking flawless for too long :(

But you are right! Definite glamour pick up!

I don't paint my finger nails, and maybe once every 5 years or so I'll paint my toe nails. But it's like you said once you paint them you become more aware and you don't want to scuff or anything.

I really like hippy fashion...long shirts, jeans, flowers, naturals... It's just hard to find them and when you look on hippy websites it's not what i'm looking for...I figure I need to buy a pattern and just make my own clothes.

I love nail color, but it looks better on long nails, and my nails are really weak and I have difficulty growing them long. I love long nails lol

Great post! I must admit my nails are terrible! (I bite them and rarely wear nail polish, shame on me), this has inspired me to shape 'em up this weekend ;)
